Fifa World Cup Market News Update : Epic Research Singapore

France are vowing no let up of their thrilling attacking style as they seek to storm into the last 16 of the World Cup against Ecuador on Wednesday.

Didier Deschamps' side have been one of the revelations of the tournament so far, bagging eight goals in two games to all but seal qualification from Group E.

A draw in Wednesday's game at the Maracana Stadium would be enough to clinch first place and avoid a probable meeting with Argentina in the last 16.

But France full-back Mathieu Debuchy says his team-mates will aim to finish with a flourish to maintain momentum.

Portugal snatched a dramatic equaliser deep into injury time to force a 2-2 draw with the United States and keep their World Cup hopes flickering on Sunday.

Varela headed in a cross from Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo in the fifth and final minute of stoppage time at the Amazonia Arena in Manaus to grab a vital point.

The last-gasp leveller deprived the United States of a famous win which would have seen them complete a remarkable qualification from Group G, which also includes Germany and Ghana.

It also saved Ronaldo and Portugal from an embarrassing first round elimination from a group they were firmly expected to qualify from.

England are simply not good enough to compete against the best teams and are just too sloppy to pull off their new expansive approach.
Following at 2-1 defeat to Uruguay in Sao Paulo on Thursday that left their World Cup hopes relying on other results, England have shown they cannot handle the pressure when faced with serious opposition

Wayne Rooney scored for Roy Hodgson's England, between two emphatically-finished goals by Uruguay's Luis Suarez.

Brazil can complete part one of their World Cup mission Tuesday against Mexico, knowing a victory will virtually ensure a place in the last 16 and help relieve some of the huge emotional pressure.

The five-time champions opened their campaign with a 3-1 win over Croatia while Mexico edged Cameroon 1-0.

Brazil striker Hulk insists there is no question of Brazil looking to settle a score at Fortaleza's Castelao Stadium, the same venue where they met in the Confederations Cup last year, when Luiz Felipe Scolari's side claimed a 2-0 victory.

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is '100 per cent fit' and ready to help Portugal break their losing streak against Germany in Monday's key World Cup clash.

Fifa World Cup Market News Update : Epic Research Singapore

The World Cup, which kicks off Thursday with 32 teams battling it out in Brazil, features a 33rd contender off the field: Twitter.
Like other major social-media and Internet companies, including Facebook FB +0.33% and Google GOOG +0.07% , Twitter TWTR +0.30% is eyeing the World Cup as an opportunity to expand its reach. For Twitter, however, the stakes are higher, though the opportunity to flex its muscles as a social media powerhouse is huge.
Twitter has rolled out special features for the event, including a set of “hashflags” — three-letter country codes, including #BRA for Brazil and #FRA for France, that bring up the relevant national flags when posted on a Twitter feed.
And Twitter’s efforts have already earned the company upbeat reviews from advertising and marketing executives.

Chile helped pile the pressure on champions Spain after sealing an eventually comfortable 3-1 win over Australia in their World Cup Group B opener in Cuiaba on Friday.

Early goals from Alexis Sanchez and Jorge Valdivia put the South Americans in front before Tim Cahill's brilliant header gave the Socceroos a lifeline, only for Jean Beausejour's fine injury-time strike to seal the victory.
The result meant Spain have a lot of ground to make up following their 5-1 trouncing by the Netherlands in the earlier Group B match.

FIFA World Cup Market News Update : Epic Research Singapore

This year's World Cup competition in Brazil may be set to open against a backdrop of more domestic unrest than before, but the global football showpiece is still going to be the proverbial golden goose for FIFA.

Sports market intelligence company, Sportcal, says the World Cup in Brazil will gross US$4.28 billion (S$5.35 billion) - up from 2010's US$3.66 billion and 2006's US$2.35 billion.

This puts to rest any suggestion that the global competition might be losing its lustre. Brazil 2014 will significantly boost the coffers of FIFA, says Sportcal.
