Japanese yen USDJPY -0.11% had dipped to ¥100.18 as Obama
began speaking in a televised event from Washington but then recovered to buy
¥100.54. The dollar bought ¥100.20 just before the speech began and had fetched
¥100.33 on Tuesday in North America.
