Crude for December delivery CLZ3 +0.81% rose 74 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at $97.85 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It briefly topped $98 during the session. The November contract expired at the close on Tuesday.
According to FactSet data tracking the most-active Nymex futures contract, prices settled at $100.81 last Friday, so they’ve lost 2.9% for the week. The December crude contract lost 3.2% for the week.
