Elsewhere in the metals complex, January platinum PLF4 -0.07%  shed 70 cents to $1,410.30 an ounce while December palladium PAZ3 -0.31%   PAZ3 -0.31%  dropped $2.55, or 0.4%, to $714.20 an ounce.

High-grade copper HGZ3 -0.54%   HGZ3 -0.54%  lost two cents, or 0.5%, to $3.14 a pound.
