Crude oil for January CLF4 +0.03% delivery fell 9 cents, or 0.1%, to $97.35 a barrel in electronic trading.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday that crude supplies fell by a bigger-than-expected 10.6 million barrels for the week ended Dec. 6. A previous Platts analysis expected the inventories to drop by 2.8 million barrels.
Oil prices on Wednesday lost $1.07, or 1.1%, to settle at $97.44 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
