Oil prices on Tuesday finished trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange higher by $1.17, or 1.2%, at $98.51 a barrel. That was the strongest settlement for a most-active contract since Oct. 28, according to FactSet data.
In other market action, Brent crude UK:LCOF4 -0.05% edged up 2 cents to $109.40 a barrel. January heating oil HOF4 -.00% was steady at $3.02 a gallon, while January gasoline RBF4 -0.40% shed 1 cent, or 0.4%, to $2.67 a gallon.
January natural gas NGF14 +0.33% picked up 2 cents, or 0.4%, to trade at $4.25 per million British thermal units.
