February crude oil CLG4 -0.59% fell 87 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $98.42 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. For the year, however, crude prices rose 7.2%, based on FactSet data tracking the most-active contracts. That makes up for 2012’s 7% loss and falls just short of 2011’s 8.2% gain.
