Malaysia's industrial production in January rose 3.7 per cent from a year earlier, below expectations, data from the Statistics Department showed on Thursday.

A Reuters poll of 14 economists had forecast factory output would grow 4.1 per cent, as a slowly improving export outlook buoyed the electrical, mining and manufacturing sectors.
