July silver SIN4 +0.17%  , meanwhile, gained over 2 cents, or 0.1%, on Tuesday to close at $18.76 an ounce, extending its gain from a day earlier, which followed a five-session decline.

July platinum PLN4 -0.20%   fell $3.20, or 0.2%, to end at $1,433.50 an ounce, while September palladium PAU4 -0.11%   added a $4.05, or 0.5%, to $836.70 an ounce. High-grade copper for July delivery HGN4 -0.62%   gave up 3 cents, or 1.1%, to $3.14 a pound.
