Asian shares rose Monday as traders awaited a flurry of key economic data this week including Chinese growth figures that will shed light on the health of the world's second largest economy.
Tokyo gained 0.33 per cent, Hong Kong climbed 0.94 per cent, Sydney rose 0.52 per cent, Seoul added 0.49 per cent while Shanghai was up 0.16 per cent.
Regional sentiment was supported by gains on Wall Street on Friday as fears receded over the health of a troubled Portuguese bank that rocked markets late last week.
