Rounding out the major energy trade, Nymex January natural gas NGF15, +0.13% fell 2.3 cents, or 0.8%, to $3.007 per million British thermal units after briefly dipping below $3 earlier in the session. It is the lowest settlement since Sept. 25, 2012.Natural gas hasn’t traded below $3 since 2012, according to FactSet. Warmer winter weather has been taking a toll on natural gas prices, which have tumbled more than 26% in December.
Across other energy contracts, Nymex January gasoline RBF5, +0.12% eased 0.3% to settle at $1.5087 a gallon, while January heating oil HOF5, -0.24% slipped 0.4% to $1.92 a gallon.
