In other metals trade, July platinum PLN5, -0.36%  rose $21.20, or 1.9%, to $1,150.90 an ounce, while June palladium PAM5, -0.12%  advanced $8.90, or 1.2%, to $782.65 an ounce.

July copper HGN5, -0.29%  fell about a penny, or 0.3%, to $2.9205 a pound.
