SINGAPORE shares opened higher on Wednesday with the Straits Times Index up 4.18 points to 3,343.96 as at 9.04am amid investor confidence in a Greek debt deal.In the region, Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei index opened 0.38 per cent higher, hitting its highest level in more than 18 years. On Tuesday, the Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed at a 15-year high.
In Singapore, 12.85 million shares worth S$79.32 million changed hands as at 9.04am on Wednesday, with gainers outnumbering losers 78 to 64.
