
As at 9.03am, 164.9 million shares worth S$103.6 million had changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 185 to 19.
Some of the more active stocks included Olam International, QT Vascular and Noble Group.
On Thursday, Wall Street had rallied more than 2 per cent as strong US economic data and hints that a September interest-rate hike by the US Federal Reserve was unlikely fuelled optimism that the worst of recent market turmoil was over.
