In other metals, December silver SIZ5, +0.41% gained 6.9 cents, or 0.5%, to $14.645 an ounce and December high-grade copper HGZ5, +0.53% ended at $2.447 a pound, up 1.1 cents, or 0.4%.October platinum PLV5, +0.39% ended flat at $981.20 an ounce, while December palladium PAZ5, +0.12% tacked on $14.55, or 2.5%, at $592.50 an ounce.
