Citic Envirotech lands RMB549 million project in China

Citic Envirotech Ltd (CEL) has secured a Public-Private Partnership project in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province, China worth about RMB 549 million ($122 million).

The project involves an investment of RMB549 million into four wastewater treatment plants and its associated pipe network in Liaoyang City. In return, CEL will be granted concessions to operate and maintain these four plants. The total waste treatment capacity of the four plants is approximately 285,000 cubic metres/day.

PPP has gained much interest in the China water industry after the Chinese government had published two new PPP guidelines last year and launched various PPP projects worth RMB1.97 trillion in water conservation, transport and environmental protection.

The Liaoyang PPP project is CEL’s first PPP project in China.

The project is not expected to have any material financial impact on the net tangible assets per share and earning per share of the group for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2015.

CEL last traded at $1.61 on Nov 20.
