SGX Singapore Opening Market Update : Epic Research Singapore

SINGAPORE shares opened higher on Thursday, following Wall Street's gain on expectations the Federal Reserve would be confident enough about the US economy to raise rates in December.

Minutes of the Fed's last policy meeting indicated that most members were ready to sanction a lift off in December, though further moves would be highly dependent on the economy continuing to perform well.

The benchmark Straits Times Index rose 26.91 points or 0.93 per cent to 2,912.99.

At 9.03am, 36.6 million shares worth S$42.9 million were traded, with gainers outnumbering losers 103 to 30.

Among the most active counters in early trade were QT Vascular, Ezion and NOL.
