SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.2 per cent higher on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 4.79 points to 2,880.11 as at 9am.The increase came despite an overnight retreat on Wall Street.
About 17.4 million shares worth S$19.3 million in total changed hands as at 9am, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.11 per share.
The most actively traded counter was mDR, which was flat at S$0.004 with three million shares changing hands. Other actives included Singtel and Terratech.
Gainers outnumbered losers 58 to 40, or about three up for every two down.
