Gasoline supplies rose by 3.5 million barrels, while distillate stockpiles fell by 4.1 million barrels last week, according to the EIA. The Platts survey showed expectations for a rise of 1 million for gasoline and a decline of 2 million for distillates, which include heating oil.On Nymex, February gasoline RBG6, -0.64% added ended little changed at $1.046 a gallon, while February heating oil HOG6, -0.26% reclaimed the $1 level, settling at $1.025 a gallon, up 5.8 cents, or 5.9%.
Meanwhile, on its expiration day, February natural gas NGG16, +0.14% settled up nearly a cent, or 0.4%, at $2.189 per million British thermal units ahead of the EIA’s weekly natural-gas supply update due Thursday.
