In other metals, April platinum PLJ6, -0.19%  lost $5.20, or 0.6%, to end at $882.10 an ounce, while March palladium PAH6, -0.42%  added $9.50, or 1.9%, to close at $502.25 an ounce.

March silver SIH6, +0.01%  gave up 10.5 cents, or 0.7%, to finish at $14.449 an ounce. March copper HGH6, -0.24%  traded at $2.064 a pound, up 2.7 cents, or 1.3%.
