Meanwhile, March silver SIH6, -0.50% was off 5.9 cents, or 0.4%, to close at $15.373 an ounce. For the week, the gray precious metal is on track for a 2.6% decline—also its first weekly fall in about a month.

In other metals on Comex, high-grade copper HGH6, +0.31% for March delivery finished 0.3 cents, or 0.1%, higher at $2.0765 a pound. Copper scored a 2.4% gain for the week. April platinum PLJ6, -0.55% was unchanged at 946.60 an ounce, with a 1.3% weekly drop. March palladium PAH6, -0.92%  was $5.80, or 1.1%, lower to settle at $499.05 an ounce, down 5.3% for the week.
