Natural-gas futures, meanwhile, reversed from earlier declines to end higher. The EIA reported Thursday that U.S. supplies of the commodity declined by 57 billion cubic feet for the week ended March 4. That was in line with the fall of between 55 billion and 59 billion cubic feet expected by analysts polled by Platts, but less than the 118 billion cubic foot five-year average decline, according to Citi Futures.
April natural gas NGJ16, +1.01% settled at $1.788 per million British thermal units, up 3.6 cents, or 2.1%.
April gasoline RBJ6, +1.60% fell 3.2 cents, or 2.1%, to $1.439 a gallon on Thursday after rallying by 6% a day earlier on the U.S. supply decline. April heating oil HOJ6, +1.49% lost 1.7 cents, or 1.4%, to $1.216 a gallon.
