In other metals trading, May copper HGK6, -0.46% rose 2 cents, or 1%, to settle at $2.168 a pound. July platinum PLN6, -1.23% rose $3.30, or 0.3%, to settle at $1,003 an ounce and June palladium PAM6, -0.52% edged down $1.65, or 0.3%, to settle at $542.50 an ounce.
