Rounding out the action in metals futures, July copper HGN6, +0.36% rose 3.2 cents, or 1.5%, to $2.099 a pound.

In other metals, July platinum PLN6, +1.06% lost $11.80, or 1.2%, to $992.40 an ounce and Sept. palladium PAU6, +2.29%  gave up $7.10, or 1.3%, to $531.35 an ounce.
