The blue-chip index rose after a temporary rebound in crude oil prices.
About 31.1 million shares worth S$28.5 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.92 per share.
The most actively traded counter was Golden Agri-Resources, which rose S$0.005 to S$0.360 with 8.6 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Ezra Holdings and Technics Oil & Gas.
Gainers outnumbered losers 59 to 45, or about four up for every three down.
