SINGAPORE shares opened lower on Wednesday, after Wall Street stocks took a tumble on Tuesday, as the benchmark Straits Times Index dipped 0.7 per cent, or 19.70 points, to 2,791.50.
By 9.02 am, 39.3 million shares worth S$63.6 million had changed hands, while losers outnumbered gainers at 96 to 46.
Gainers included Haw Par, Great Eastern and DBS, while losers included Jardine Cycle & Carriage, UOB and Wilmar.
