Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports (NODX) fell 7.9% y-o-y in April 2016 to $12.7 billion but is picking up the pace as it rises 4.5% from $12.2 billion recorded in March.
This according to data released on Tuesday by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.
Electronic NODX dropped 7.4% y-o-y, led by a decline in PCs and parts of PCs, which fell 21.6% and 23.4% respectively.
Non-electronic NODX fell 8.1% y-o-y, led by a 94.3% decrease in structures of ships and boats, civil engineering equipment parts down 54.0%, and petrochemicals down 16.7%.
NODX to all of the top 10 NODX markets, except the EU 28 and Hong Kong, declined in April 2016. The top contributors to the NODX contraction in April 2016 were Taiwan, South Korea and Indonesia, IE Singapore said.
Non-oil re-exports (NORX) dipped 2.8% y-o-y in April due to a 6.8% decrease in electronic NORX which outweighed the 1.8% growth in non-electronic NORX.
Singapore’s total trade plunged 9.8% y-o-y in April 2016 as exports dropped 8.0% and imports declined by 12.0%. On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, the level of total trade reached $68.3 billion, 3.9% higher than the $65.7 billion registered in the previous month.
