Thursday marks the last operational day for 31-year-old Funan DigitaLife Mall.
In a filing to the Singapore Exchange this morning, CapitaLand Mall Trust (CMT) says the IT mall will be open to the public from 7am to 11pm on its final day today, after which it will be closed for three years of redevelopment works.

Funan DigitaLife Mall is scheduled to undergo redevelopment works from 3Q16 until 2019, and will reopen as what the REIT calls an “experiential hub of the future” – an 870,000 sq ft integrated development, which is almost double the mall’s current size of 482,000 sq ft.
According to CMT, the project is in line with the recent revitalisation of Singapore’s civic and cultural district, where the mall is located along North Bridge Road.
A ‘thank you’ party will be hosted tonight by CapitaLand’s senior management for some 400 guests comprising tenants, shoppers and mall staff at Funan’s Main Atrium, where local graffiti artist Ceno2 will be featuring graffiti art interpretations of crowd-sourced ideas from the mall’s recent #BeyondIT campaign. His artwork will be displayed thereafter in the new integrated development on the Funan site.
“Technology has always been a big part of Funan and we will build on that legacy, moving from just selling IT products to enriching people’s lives with technology,” said Wilson Tan, CEO of CapitaLand Mall Trust Management Limited, the external manager of CMT.
“This is not a 'goodbye', it simply means ‘till we meet again’. We thank everyone who has been a part of Funan, and we look forward to welcoming them back with even more exciting offerings in the new Funan. See you in three years’ time!”
Units of CMT are up 0.5% to $2.19.
