Gasoline supplies were down 1.5 million barrels, while distillate stockpiles fell 1.3 million barrels last week, according to the EIA.
Back on Nymex, July gasoline RBN6, -0.37% rose 1.9 cents, or 1.2%, to $1.635 a gallon and July heating oil HON6, -0.03% added about a penny, or 0.7%, to $1.509 a gallon.
Meanwhile, natural-gas futures climbed after the EIA said Thursday that supplies of the commodity rose 82 billion cubic feet for the week ended May 27. Analysts polled by S&P Global Platts forecast an increase of 85 billion cubic feet, on average.
July natural gas NGN16, +0.33% rose 2.4 cents, or 1%, to $2.405 per million British thermal units. It traded at $2.38 before the data.
