Natural-gas futures, however, bucked the downtrend among their energy peers to finish higher as weekly U.S. increases in supplies of the fuel have come in lower than usual, analysts said.
July natural gas NGN16, +0.26% climbed 5.4 cents, or 2%, to $2.716 per million British thermal units, ahead of the contract’s expiration at Tuesday’s settlement.
