SINGAPORE shares opened up 15.0 points, or 0.53 per cent, at 2,846.28 on Tuesday morning, riding on gains seen in other markets.
Tracking Wall Street gains, Tokyo shares also opened higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange up 0.43 per cent, or 71.02 points, to 16,651.05 in opening deals. Meanwhile, the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.29 per cent, or 3.86 points, to 1,336.29.
As at 9.01am, 44.8 million shares worth S$81.9 million had changed hands. Gainers outnumbered losers 86 to 28.
