FOLLOWING gains on Wall Street and in Europe, the Straits Times Index picked up 5.77 points or 0.20 per cent to 2,951.51 at the start of trading on Thursday.At 9.02am, 52.8 million shares worth S$75.2 million had changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 72 to 51.
Gainers included Hongkong Land, SMRT Corp, Jardine Cycle & Carriage, UOB and DBS Bank.
