Australian stocks opened higher Friday, tracking overnight
gains in the U.S., with resource shares among the top advancers.
The S&P/ASX
200 added 0.9% to 5,121.80, with a more-than-1% climb for Nymex crude futures
overnight helping send Origin Energy Ltd. up 1.7% and Worley Parsons Ltd.
Adding
2.9%. Among the miners, Rio Tinto Ltd. rose 1.6%, while Fortescue Metals Group
Ltd. jumped 4%, extending its post-earnings advance from the previous
session
