Elsewhere in the energy complex, December gasoline RBZ3 -0.54%  gave back a penny, or 0.4%, to trade at $2.73 a gallon after rallying 8 cents, or 3%, higher on Thursday.

Natural-gas futures for December delivery NGZ13 +0.41%  rose 1 cent, or 0.3%, to $3.71 per million British thermal units, extending a 3-cent gain the previous day following weekly data showing a larger-than-expected drop in U.S. natural-gas supplies.
