The euro EURJPY -.00% hit an intraday high of ¥139.69 in morning trade, its highest level since 2008. It more recently traded down slightly at ¥139.07, down 0.06% from the previous session.
Against the dollar, the euro EURUSD -0.11% inched down to $1.3586, lower on the day by 0.11%, while the British pound GBPUSD +0.17% was up 0.18% to $1.6365.
The Australian dollar AUDUSD +0.09% also gained, buying $0.9111, up 0.33%.
