BlackBerry Inc. BBRY +2.88%  shares rose almost 3%, to $6.08, after the troubled smartphone maker extended the timeframe for its lenders to purchase up to $250 million in convertible debt.

Nimble Storage Inc. NMBL +61.57%  climbed more than 61%, to close at $33.93 a share, as the data-storage technology company made its public-trading debut.
