By late morning in East Asia, gold for February delivery GCG4 -1.23% was down $14.80, or 1.2%, at $1,220.20 an ounce, while March silver SIH4 -2.64% was hit much harder, down 44 cents, or 2.2%, at $19.62 an ounce.
A day earlier, gold prices settled at $1,235 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, up $4.90, or 0.4%, before the Fed news.
