Back on Nymex, natural-gas futures prices pulled back after closing nearly 5% higher on Thursday following a report from the U.S. government showing a much bigger-than-expected drop in weekly supplies of the heating fuel.
January natural gas NGF14 -0.96% closed down 4 cents, or 0.9%, to $4.42 per million British thermal units. Prices were up 1.5% for the week.
January heating oil ended at $3.08 a gallon, up almost 5 cents, or 1.6% — up 3.4% for the week. January gasoline RBF4 +1.46% added 4 cents, or 1.6%, to $2.78 a gallon for a gain of roughly 5.8% from the week-ago close.
