In electronic trading, gold for February delivery GCG4 -0.66% lost $9.10, or 0.7%, to $1,238.10 an ounce. March silver SIH4 -0.98% gave up 23 cents, or 1.1%, to $19.61 an ounce.
Gold prices bounced back on Wednesday to recoup much of what they had lost in the first two sessions of the week as traders had no shortage of economic data to mull over.
