February crude oil CLG4 -0.31% fell 23 cents, or 0.2% to $99.09 a barrel in electronic trading.
February crude on Friday gained 28 cents, or 0.3%, to settle at $99.32 a barrel on its first full trading day as a front-month contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after the U.S. government revised up its estimate of third-quarter economic growth to 4.1%.
