Epic Research Singapore : Hang Seng Index

The Hang Seng Index HK:HSI +0.55% rose 0.4% to 22,900.47. Mainland Chinese shares were a mixed picture, as the Shanghai Composite CN:SHCOMP +0.20% slipped 0.2% after opening higher, but Hong Kong's Hang Seng China Enterprises Index added 0.4%. Shares of China Mobile, one of the top-weighted Hang Seng Index components, improved by 1.5% after the announcement of its long-awaited deal with Apple Inc. AAPL +0.84% to offer the popular iPhone line of handsets. FIH, also known as Foxconn, jumped 7.5% on news it would partner with BlackBerry in developing phones for India and other high-growth markets. On the downside, Prada SpA HK:1913 -5.18% PRDSY +1.27% fell 4.3%, with Bloomberg News reporting a statement from the fashion house that it may miss its fiscal-year revenue estimate due to weak demand. HKT Ltd. HK:6823 -2.77% dropped 4.8% as Kim Eng Securities cited news that Hong Kong regulators were examining its purchase of CSL from Australia's Telstra Corp. AU:TLS 0.00% TTRAF +3.19% . The Hong Kong Stock Exchange was due to close early Tuesday and remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday for the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays.
