Crude oil prices on Monday fell $1.03, or 1%, to settle at $99.29 a barrel. For the month, Nymex crude rose 6.2%, its best month since July.
Natural gas futures, on the other hand, were a stand out. The most active contract has surged 26% this year, the best year since 2005, according to FactSet. Natural gas for February delivery NGG14 -4.41% , the front-month contract, was down 20 cents, or 4.5%, to settle at $4.23 per million British thermal units.
