The Dow industrials DJIA +0.44% notched its 51st record close of 2013 on Monday, albeit in thin volumes, putting it up nearly 26% for 2013. The S&P 500 index SPX +0.40% fell less than 0.1% to finish at 1,841.07 on Monday. For the year, it’s on track for a gain of more than 29% and for its biggest annual jump since 1997.
The Nasdaq Composite COMP +0.54% lost 2.4 points on Monday to end at 4,154.20. The index is headed toward a 35% annual gain, which would be its largest since 2009.
