Forex Market Update : Epic Research Singapore

The dollar relinquished early gains against the yen on Monday after disappointing August data showed U.S. existing-home sales recorded its first drop in five months.

The greenback closed Monday’s trading session at USDJPY, -0.07% at 108.79 yen, compared to ¥108.90 late Friday.

The aussie AUDUSD, +0.39%  traded at 88.83 cents Monday, compared to 89.51 cents late Friday.

The euro EURUSD, +0.02% traded at $1.2849 Monday, compared to $1.2831 Friday, and 0.7850 pound EURGBP, -0.12% compared to £0.7876.

The pound GBPUSD, +0.15%  traded higher against the dollar Monday at $1.6341, compared to $1.6292 Friday.

The Canadian dollar CADUSD, +0.11%  kicked off the week significantly lower against the greenback, softening on falling commodity prices. The loonie traded at 90.87 Monday, down from 91.26 Friday.

A WSJ Dollar Index BUXX, -0.09% a measure of the dollar against a basket of major currencies, was virtually unchanged at 76.93.
