Silver for December delivery SIZ5, +0.01% closed 16 cents, or 1%, lower at $15.41 an ounce. In October, silver posted its best monthly gain, up 7.2%, since January, according to FactSet data.In other metals, December copper HGZ5, +0.11% finished essentially flat at $2.319 a pound, while January platinum PLF6, +0.22% closed with a loss of $10.70, or 1.1%, at $978.40. December palladium PAZ5, +0.32% shed $26.90 an ounce, or nearly 4%, to settle at $650.35 an ounce.
