February Brent crude LCOG6, -1.24%  on London’s ICE Futures exchange added $1.17, or 3.2%, to finish at $37.79 a barrel. The global benchmark is down more than 15% in December and is on track for a 2015 drop of more than 34%.

Gasoline futures for January delivery RBF6, -1.47%  rose 4.34 cents, or 3.5%, to $1.276 a gallon.
