SGX Singapore Opening Market Update : Epic Research Singapore

SINGAPORE stocks opened 0.2 per cent higher on Thursday, with the Straits Times Index moving up 5.2 points to 2,890.71 as at 9am.

The blue-chip index gained despite an overnight slump on Wall Street.

About 36.1 million shares worth S$75.9 million in total had changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$2.10 per share.

The most actively traded counter was CSC, which fell S$0.001 to S$0.013 with 4.1 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Tigerair and Golden Agri-Resources.

Gainers outnumbered losers 48 to 36, or about four up for every three down.

Trading on Thursday, which is New Year's Eve, will end earlier than usual at 12.30pm.
