Shanghai-based property group Chiwayland International announced the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary, Epping Hillview Pty Ltd, for the purpose of developing the land site which the group had recently acquired in Epping, New South Wales.
The 4,422 sqm land is located at 17–25 Epping Road, in Epping, a suburb of Sydney. The land was tendered at a purchase price of A$24.3 million ($24.2 million). The group plans to develop a 90-unit apartment project at this land site.
Located 18 kilometres northwest of Sydney’s central business district, Epping is an upcoming suburb and a transportation hub with rail links to Sydney. The New South Wales government has drafted urban renewal plans for Epping and Macquarie Park. The plans include revitalising local areas at Epping Town Centre, Macquarie University Station, Macquarie Park and North Ryde Station.
Qian Jianrong, Executive Chairman and CEO of Chiwayland, said, “We are excited over our development plans for this land site. This will be our sixth property development project in Australia. We believe the demand for homes with good attributes in key Australian cities remain healthy, supported by interstate migration and the government’s various plans to revitalise certain suburbs. We will continue to ride on this trend to strengthen our presence in the Australian property market.”
Chiwayland closed 1.6% higher at 6.4 cents.
