Mary Chia CEO hit with more charges

Mary Chia Holdings CEO Ho Yow Ping is now facing additional charges in relation to staff employment matters.

The new charges relate to a breach of the Massage Establishment Act, brought on by the Singapore Police Force.

This is in addition to Ho's three existing charges under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act announced on May 13.

Furthermore, the beauty and wellness company says its wholly-owned subsidiary Spa Menu is now being charged under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act for failure to obtain a valid work pass for a foreign employee.

Previously, Ho was charged in her capacity as director of the company's two wholly-owned subsidiaries Mary Chia Beauty and Slimming Specialist, and Spa Menu.

These charges relate to employment of staff without the prior approval of the licensing officer and failure to maintain proper employee records.

Amid the charges, Mary Chia says Spa Menu and Mary Chia Beauty and Slimming Specialist will operate for business as usual.

Shares of Mary Chia were last traded at 6.3 cents on June 8.
