streak overnight in the U.S. The Nikkei Stock Average gained 1.8% to 13,608.94
and the broader Topix index added 1.6% to 1,137.50. Shares of Yamaha Motor Co.
climbed 5.4%, Citizen Holdings Co. gained 4.3%, Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.
added 3.8%, Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. gained 3.5% and banking giant Mitsubishi
UFJ Financial Group Inc. rose 1.5%. Mitsubishi Motors Corp
